Detailed 10-Day Kenya Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy
You will be picked up by our company representative from the airport or your hotel in Nairobi and driven to Ol Pejeta Conservancy through the farmlands of central Kenya. You will stop along the way to stretch and enjoy the views.
Arrive in the afternoon, have lunch, and go on your first game drive. You may see rhinos, chimpanzees, elephants, bushbuck, waterbuck, elands, mongoose, hyrax, and more. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp or lodge.
Day 2: Game Drive in Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Spend the full day exploring Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a private wildlife sanctuary that protects endangered species. It is home to the last two northern white rhinos and other animals including the Big Five, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, zebras, and hartebeests. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp or lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Samburu National Reserve
After breakfast and a short morning game drive, check out and drive to Samburu National Reserve. Travel through the Kenya highlands and into the dry northern region.
On arrival, enjoy a short game drive on the way to your lodge or camp for lunch. In the afternoon, go for an introductory game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Full Day in Samburu
Start the day with a pre-breakfast game drive to try and spot predators or other early-active animals. Spend the day exploring Samburu, especially near the river. Because of the dry climate, early mornings are the best time for wildlife sightings.
You may see lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, oryx, and Somali ostriches. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Samburu to Lake Bogoria National Reserve
Go for an early morning game drive to spot any animals you missed. After breakfast, leave Samburu and drive to Lake Bogoria. Visit the lake to see hot springs, geysers, and flamingos (season permitting).
Arrive in the afternoon, have lunch, and relax. You can enjoy the lodge or take a short walk. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Lake Naivasha
Continue your safari to Lake Naivasha. Take a boat ride on the freshwater lake and look for hippos, crocodiles, and birds. Later, enjoy a guided walk on Crescent Island to see zebras, giraffes, waterbucks, and buffalos.
In the afternoon, visit Hell’s Gate National Park. You can explore the park on foot or rent bicycles to ride among gazelles, zebras, giraffes, and other animals. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, drive to Masai Mara through the Great Rift Valley. Arrive in time for lunch. After a short rest, go for an afternoon game drive to begin exploring this famous reserve. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Full Day in Masai Mara
Spend the day on game drives in Masai Mara. This park is one of the best places in the world to see animals. It has open grasslands, good weather, and many types of wildlife.
You may see the Big Five, as well as zebras, antelopes, giraffes, and more. Visit the Mara River, where hippos and crocodiles live. If you visit from July to October, you may witness the wildebeest migration. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9: Another Day in Masai Mara
Enjoy another full day in Masai Mara. You can go on game drives at different times of the day or take a half-day drive and relax in the afternoon at your lodge.
Optional activities at extra cost: Hot air balloon safari early in the morning or a visit to a Maasai village. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp or lodge.
Day 10: Return to Nairobi
After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi. You will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport for your flight home.
