Masai Mara National Park is located in Kenya on the border with Tanzania. The park merges with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. This park derives its name from the local Maasai who inhabit the area. The park covers an area of about 1,510 square kilometers. One of the most frequent attractions here is the sandy Talek River and the Mara River. These are the two rivers that drain this area. This also helps the Maasai who live here to graze their cattle and have water for them as well.
The Masai Mara ecosystem has many features that make it unique. These include: Ol Derkesi, Kerinkani, Oloirien, Ol Chorro Oirowua, Olkinyei, Siana, Maji Moto, Naikara, Koiyaki, Lemek and Kimintet Conservation Ranches. This is all part of efforts to help preserve the environment in the Masai Mara.
