Sekenani Sector of Maasai Mara

The land in the Sekenani Sector slopes down into the eastern part of the reserve and has some hilly areas. The Sekenani Sector of Maasai Mara has many accommodation options. There are large hotel lodges and budget tented camps in this area. However, the high number of visitors and ongoing local development have made this part of the reserve very busy. For this reason, it is often seen as the least quiet part of the Masai Mara.
Musiara Sector of Maasai Mara
Musiara Sector of Maasai Mara is known as one of the best places for wildlife viewing in the Masai Mara National Reserve. This area lies between the Talek River and the Mara River, in the southeast part of the reserve. Its location near the Mara River makes it very important during the Great Migration, especially during river crossing season.
Large herds of animals move from Serengeti National Park into the Masai Mara National Reserve between July and October. During this time, the Musiara Sector of Maasai Mara becomes very active with wildlife. Visitors can see predators like lions and cheetahs hunting in the open plains.
The Paradise Plains in this sector is known for cheetah sightings. Rhino Ridge is a good place to see black-backed jackals, spotted hyenas, and bat-eared foxes. Lookout Hill offers clear views of Olpunyaia Swamp, hippos, and river crossings during migration.
Mara Triangle
Mara Triangle is another important part of the Masai Mara National Reserve. It is one of the best areas to see the Great Migration river crossings. The area is calm, has many animals, and is well managed. The Mara Triangle covers about 510 square kilometers, which is a large part of the reserve.
In the past, this area had problems with poaching, but it is now well protected. The Mara Conservancy manages this area through cooperation between conservation experts and the Maasai community. This has helped improve wildlife protection and tourism in the Mara Triangle.
